Instrument coverage

Hastings has instrument procedures to two runway ends, and both approaches are RNAV (GPS). This provides coverage in two landing directions, but no other approach type is represented. The chart set is therefore narrowly focused on satellite-based arrivals rather than a varied collection of procedures.

Runways and surrounding coverage

The 5,003 ft asphalt runway is more than twice as long as either turf strip, making it the clear dimensional focus; the shorter turf runways add two alignments but much less available length. Nearby procedure coverage is broadest at Gerald R Ford Intl with 15 charts, followed by Battle Creek Executive at Kellogg Fld with eight. Ionia County’s four is close to Hastings, while Padgham Fld and Fitch H Beach match its three-chart scale. The Chicago and Detroit sectionals add overlapping VFR coverage beyond the airport-specific instrument procedures.
