Concentrated instrument coverage

Allegheny County’s four approach plates serve only two of its four conventional runway ends. Their mix of ILS, localiser and RNAV (GPS) procedures provides both ground-based and satellite-based options, but instrument coverage remains concentrated on selected directions. The 6,501 ft runway provides substantially more available length than the 3,825 ft crossing runway, making runway choice consequential for aircraft requiring more distance.

Local chart context

Pittsburgh International has by far the broadest nearby procedure set. Arnold Palmer Regional is the closest in scale to Allegheny County’s coverage, while Washington County, Rostraver and Finleyville Airpark have progressively thinner chart sets. For VFR context, the Detroit Sectional supplies the wider-area depiction, complemented by the more detailed Pittsburgh Terminal Area Chart.
