Focused instrument coverage

Meadow Lake’s instrument set is tightly focused: two RNAV (GPS) approaches serve two of the airport’s six runway ends. Instrument arrivals are therefore confined to a minority of the available alignments, while the single obstacle departure procedure provides the set’s only departure-specific coverage.

Runways and surrounding coverage

The 6,001 ft asphalt runway is the longest paved option. The 5,001 ft turf runway adds another substantial alignment, whereas the 2,126 ft asphalt-gravel runway is markedly shorter. Nearby chart coverage varies sharply: Centennial’s 51 charts are the broadest set, followed by Colorado Springs Municipal with 24 and Pueblo Memorial with 13; Fremont County has three, and Butts AAF only one. The Denver and Wichita sectional charts place Meadow Lake within two broader VFR planning sheets, adding visual-navigation context beyond the terminal procedures.

Common questions about KFLY

What charts are available for KFLY?

5 current FAA charts for Meadow Lake, including 2 instrument approachs. All are free to download as PDFs from this page, from the 6 August 2026 cycle.

What are the radio frequencies for KFLY?

CTAF 122.7. Full civil VHF list, with sector notes, is in the frequencies table on this page — from the FAA NASR subscription.

How long is the runway at KFLY?

Meadow Lake has 3 runways. The longest is 15/33 at 6,001 ft by 60 ft, asphalt. Full runway dimensions, lighting and approach aids are listed on this page.

Does KFLY have an ILS approach?

No ILS is published. In total KFLY has 2 published instrument approaches, of which 2 are RNAV (GPS).

How high is KFLY?

The field elevation is 6,878 ft. At that height the air is thin enough to matter: take-off and landing distances are longer than the same aircraft would need at sea level, and the effect worsens as temperature rises. The approach charts carry the altitudes that apply.

Is KFLY a towered airport?

No — Meadow Lake has no control tower. Traffic co-ordinates on a common frequency rather than with a controller, which is listed in the frequencies table on this page.

Are these KFLY charts current?

They are from the FAA cycle effective 6 August 2026, which is superseded on 3 September 2026. We publish each new cycle on its effective date. They are for flight simulation and reference only — not for real-world navigation.
