Procedure coverage

Centennial’s instrument coverage is selective: five approach plates serve only three of the six runway ends. The mix includes ILS, localiser and RNAV (GPS) procedures, while the much larger departure collection makes outbound routing the dominant feature of the chart set. The 10,001 ft and 7,001 ft parallel runways provide substantially more available length than the 4,800 ft cross-runway, so the runway choice changes the distance available considerably.

Nearby and VFR coverage

Rocky Mountain Metro has equally broad chart coverage, while Colorado Air and Space Port is close behind. Denver International has a much larger procedure set; Buckley Space Force Base is more limited, and Erie Municipal’s coverage is much thinner. The Denver Terminal Area Chart adds detailed VFR terminal-area context, while the Denver and Wichita sectionals extend that visual coverage across a wider area.

Common questions about KAPA

What charts are available for KAPA?

50 current FAA charts for Centennial, including 5 instrument approachs, 18 departure procedures, 23 arrival procedures, 1 airport diagram. All are free to download as PDFs from this page, from the 6 August 2026 cycle.

What are the radio frequencies for KAPA?

Tower 118.9; Ground 121.8; ATIS 120.3; UNICOM 122.95; Clearance delivery 128.6. Full civil VHF list, with sector notes, is in the frequencies table on this page — from the FAA NASR subscription.

How long is the runway at KAPA?

Centennial has 4 runways. The longest is 17L/35R at 10,001 ft by 100 ft, asphalt. Full runway dimensions, lighting and approach aids are listed on this page.

Does KAPA have an ILS approach?

Yes — 1 ILS procedure is published. In total KAPA has 5 published instrument approaches, of which 4 are RNAV (GPS).

Where can I download the KAPA airport diagram?

The official FAA airport diagram for Centennial is free to download at the top of this page. It shows runways, taxiways, ramp layout and hold-short positions, and is reissued every 28 days.

How high is KAPA?

The field elevation is 5,884 ft. At that height the air is thin enough to matter: take-off and landing distances are longer than the same aircraft would need at sea level, and the effect worsens as temperature rises. The approach charts carry the altitudes that apply.

Is KAPA a towered airport?

Yes. Centennial has an operating control tower, within Denver Center's airspace. Tower, ground and clearance frequencies are listed on this page.

How many runways does KAPA have?

4, which is why the chart set is as large as it is — each runway end that supports an instrument approach needs its own plates. The runway diagram on this page shows the layout to scale.

Are these KAPA charts current?

They are from the FAA cycle effective 6 August 2026, which is superseded on 3 September 2026. We publish each new cycle on its effective date. They are for flight simulation and reference only — not for real-world navigation.
