Shelbyville Municipal’s three approaches serve two runway ends, so one end has a choice of procedures. Two RNAV (GPS) approaches provide satellite-based coverage, while the VOR procedure retains a conventional option. The seven departure charts make published outbound routing the stronger emphasis of the procedure set.
The 5,000 ft paved runway provides 2,329 ft more length than the turf cross-runway; aircraft needing greater length or a paved surface are therefore directed towards the longer alignment. Nearby, Indianapolis Regional has broader chart coverage, while Indy South Greenwood and Indianapolis Metro are comparable to Shelbyville. Columbus Municipal is thinner and Greensburg Municipal thinner still. Three sectional charts supply broader VFR context, complemented by the Cincinnati Terminal Area Chart’s more focused terminal-area depiction.
