Portland-Hillsboro’s ILS, localiser, NDB and two RNAV (GPS) procedures serve just two of the airport’s six runway ends, concentrating instrument coverage on selected directions rather than all three alignments. Runway length is similarly uneven: aircraft requiring more than 3,820 ft have only 13R/31L available among the published runways.
Portland International has a much broader procedure set, while Aurora State is closest to Portland-Hillsboro in breadth. Pearson Field, Scappoose and Mc Minnville Municipal have substantially thinner coverage. The Seattle Sectional adds broader VFR context, while the Seattle Terminal Area Chart provides a more focused depiction of the Portland terminal area than the instrument procedures.
