Approach and runway coverage

Seven of Harry Reid International’s eight runway ends have a published instrument approach, giving almost complete directional coverage across its two parallel runway pairs. The mix of ILS, localiser, RNAV (GPS) and VOR procedures avoids reliance on a single form of guidance. Departures and standard arrivals substantially outnumber approach plates, so the collection is weighted towards published routing into and out of Las Vegas. At 14,835 ft, runway 08L/26R also provides a markedly longer option than the other three runways.

Nearby and VFR chart context

All four nearby airports have much thinner procedure sets. Henderson Executive has the broadest coverage among them, followed closely by Nellis AFB and North Las Vegas, while Boulder City Municipal is notably sparse. The Las Vegas Terminal Area Chart adds enlarged local VFR detail, while the Las Vegas and Los Angeles sectionals place the airport within a wider regional context.
