Procedure coverage across every runway

General Mitchell International’s instrument coverage reaches all ten runway ends, rather than concentrating procedures on a single alignment. The mix of ILS, RNAV (GPS) and localiser approaches provides several forms of guidance, with one ILS carrying CAT II/III minima. Runway length varies markedly: the longest strip is more than twice the length of the shortest, so similarly broad approach coverage does not mean equivalent runway length for every procedure.

Regional chart context

Nearby fields all have appreciably thinner procedure sets. Kenosha Regional has the broadest of them, while East Troy Municipal has the smallest collection listed. The Chicago Sectional adds regional visual-navigation context beyond the airport-specific instrument procedures and diagram.

Common questions about KMKE

What charts are available for KMKE?

23 current FAA charts for General Mitchell Intl, including 17 instrument approachs, 3 departure procedures, 1 arrival procedure, 1 airport diagram. All are free to download as PDFs from this page, from the 6 August 2026 cycle.

What are the radio frequencies for KMKE?

Tower 124.575; Ground 121.8; ATIS 126.4; UNICOM 122.95; Clearance delivery 120.8. Full civil VHF list, with sector notes, is in the frequencies table on this page — from the FAA NASR subscription.

How long is the runway at KMKE?

General Mitchell Intl has 5 runways. The longest is 01L/19R at 9,990 ft by 200 ft, asphalt over concrete. Full runway dimensions, lighting and approach aids are listed on this page.

Does KMKE have an ILS approach?

Yes — 4 ILS procedures are published, including CAT II/III minima. In total KMKE has 17 published instrument approaches, of which 12 are RNAV (GPS).

Where can I download the KMKE airport diagram?

The official FAA airport diagram for General Mitchell Intl is free to download at the top of this page. It shows runways, taxiways, ramp layout and hold-short positions, and is reissued every 28 days.

Does KMKE have CAT II or CAT III approaches?

Yes. 1 of the published ILS procedures carry CAT II/III minima, which allow approaches in lower visibility than a standard CAT I ILS. Those plates are listed separately in the approach table above, marked CAT II or CAT III in the chart name.

Is KMKE a towered airport?

Yes. General Mitchell Intl has an operating control tower, within Chicago Center's airspace. Tower, ground and clearance frequencies are listed on this page.

How many runways does KMKE have?

5, which is why the chart set is as large as it is — each runway end that supports an instrument approach needs its own plates. The runway diagram on this page shows the layout to scale.

Are these KMKE charts current?

They are from the FAA cycle effective 6 August 2026, which is superseded on 3 September 2026. We publish each new cycle on its effective date. They are for flight simulation and reference only — not for real-world navigation.
