Concentrated instrument coverage

Orange Grove NALF’s eight approaches are split evenly between ILS and localiser procedures, yet they serve only two of the four runway ends. Instrument coverage is therefore substantial but concentrated, leaving the remaining ends without published approaches. The two paved runways are effectively equal in length at about 8,000 ft, providing two alignments without a meaningful difference in available runway distance.

Chart context

Kingsville NAS has the broadest nearby procedure set, exceeding Orange Grove’s coverage, while Alice International and Sinton have about half as many charts; Nueces County and Kleberg County are thinner still. The Brownsville and San Antonio sectionals provide wider VFR context around the field, while the US Gulf Coast Helicopter Route Chart adds helicopter-route coverage absent from the instrument procedures.
