Approach and runway picture

Newport Municipal’s four approach charts serve two runway ends and span ILS, localiser, RNAV (GPS) and VOR procedures. This provides both ground-based and satellite-based approach coverage, but only for half of the airport’s four runway ends. Runway 16/34 is almost 2,400 ft longer than 02/20, giving aircraft that require more runway distance a clear distinction between the two strips.

Coverage around Newport

Mahlon Sweet Field has by far the broadest chart set among the nearby airports, while McNary Field and Corvallis Municipal are closer to Newport’s level of coverage. Albany Municipal and Tillamook have much thinner sets. The Klamath Falls and Seattle sectional sheets add the wider VFR depiction around Newport that the terminal procedures do not provide.
