Instrument procedure shape

Corvallis combines ILS, localiser, RNAV (GPS) and VOR procedures, but that variety is concentrated on only two of the four runway ends. This provides several approach methods without corresponding coverage for every landing direction. The 5,900 ft runway is nearly twice the length of the 3,100 ft second runway, so changing alignment also brings a substantial change in available runway length.

Regional chart context

Mahlon Sweet Field has clearly broader procedure coverage, while McNary Field is also more extensively charted. Newport Municipal is closest to Corvallis in overall chart-set breadth; Albany Municipal and Hobby Field have much thinner coverage. The Klamath Falls and Seattle sectionals add wider VFR route, geographical and airspace context beyond the terminal procedures.
