McNary Field’s ILS, RNAV (GPS) and localiser procedures are concentrated on two of the four runway ends. This gives the published approach set several procedure types without providing instrument coverage for every available alignment. The two fixed-wing runways are both longer than 5,000 ft and differ by only 665 ft, so neither alignment represents a sharply shorter secondary strip.
Among nearby fields, Aurora State has chart coverage closest in breadth to McNary Field, while Portland-Hillsboro has a larger set. Corvallis Municipal and McMinnville Municipal are covered more lightly, and Albany Municipal’s two-chart set is markedly thinner. The Seattle Sectional adds the wider visual aviation context around Salem that the airport diagram and terminal procedures do not show.
