Approach and runway coverage

Five of Santa Fe Regional’s six fixed-wing runway ends have an instrument approach, so coverage extends across most of its three runway alignments. RNAV (GPS) procedures predominate, supplemented by ILS, localiser and VOR options. The longest runway provides roughly 2,000 ft more length than either of the other two, making runway selection a material difference in available distance as well as alignment.

Regional chart context

Albuquerque International Sunport has a substantially broader procedure set, while Double Eagle II is the nearest comparison in overall chart coverage. Los Alamos, Moriarty and Las Vegas Municipal have much thinner published sets. The Albuquerque and Denver sectional charts add wider-area VFR context beyond the airport-specific terminal procedures.

Common questions about KSAF

What charts are available for KSAF?

14 current FAA charts for Santa Fe Rgnl, including 8 instrument approachs, 3 departure procedures, 1 airport diagram. All are free to download as PDFs from this page, from the 6 August 2026 cycle.

What are the radio frequencies for KSAF?

Ground 121.7; ATIS 128.55; CTAF 119.5; UNICOM 122.95. Full civil VHF list, with sector notes, is in the frequencies table on this page — from the FAA NASR subscription.

How long is the runway at KSAF?

Santa Fe Rgnl has 4 runways. The longest is 02/20 at 8,366 ft by 150 ft, asphalt. Full runway dimensions, lighting and approach aids are listed on this page.

Does KSAF have an ILS approach?

Yes — 1 ILS procedure is published. In total KSAF has 8 published instrument approaches, of which 5 are RNAV (GPS).

Where can I download the KSAF airport diagram?

The official FAA airport diagram for Santa Fe Rgnl is free to download at the top of this page. It shows runways, taxiways, ramp layout and hold-short positions, and is reissued every 28 days.

How high is KSAF?

The field elevation is 6,348 ft. At that height the air is thin enough to matter: take-off and landing distances are longer than the same aircraft would need at sea level, and the effect worsens as temperature rises. The approach charts carry the altitudes that apply.

Is KSAF a towered airport?

Yes. Santa Fe Rgnl has an operating control tower, within Albuquerque Center's airspace. Tower, ground and clearance frequencies are listed on this page.

How many runways does KSAF have?

4, which is why the chart set is as large as it is — each runway end that supports an instrument approach needs its own plates. The runway diagram on this page shows the layout to scale.

Are these KSAF charts current?

They are from the FAA cycle effective 6 August 2026, which is superseded on 3 September 2026. We publish each new cycle on its effective date. They are for flight simulation and reference only — not for real-world navigation.
