Concentrated approach coverage

St Simons Island’s three approaches serve only two of its four runway ends: two use RNAV (GPS), while the third uses VOR guidance. Instrument coverage is therefore concentrated rather than provided for every runway direction. The two runways also differ markedly in length; an aircraft requiring more than 3,313 ft has only the 5,584 ft runway available. No separate airport diagram supplements the procedure set.

Coverage around St Simons Island

Fernandina Beach Municipal and Brunswick Golden Isles have broader chart sets, with nine and seven procedures respectively. Jekyll Island and Brantley County each have thinner three-chart sets, while Jesup-Wayne County is comparable with four. The Jacksonville Sectional supplies the wider VFR context absent from the terminal procedures.
