Details of the Redesigned Airport Layout

Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International is a major gateway on Florida’s southeast coast, offering significant passenger and cargo operations year-round. In this revision, taxiways and taxi signs are adjusted to reflect current real-world arrangements, including the closure of taxiway H. You will also find:

• A dedicated helipad for rotorcraft enthusiasts.
• Increased parking allocations for various airline traffic.

Included BGL Files

This package contains four BGL files. They are:

KFLL_ADE_RS.BGL

Represents the standard runway usage setup.

KFLL_ADE_CW_RS.BGL

Implements the crosswind runway feature, allowing all three runways to operate simultaneously.

KFLL_ADE_CVX.BGL

Ensures correct terrain and airport background data.

KFLL_ADE_OBJ.BGL

Adds enhanced airport objects to the scenery.

Choosing Your Runway Configuration

• KFLL_ADE_CW_RS.BGL activates crosswind runway usage, utilizing three runways at once.
• KFLL_ADE_RS.BGL preserves the default runway operation with no crosswind modifications.

Both files share the same assigned parking information.

Important Note About ATIS

While using the crosswind file, you may notice AI traffic controllers referencing additional runways (sometimes referred to as “fake” runways). This is an expected behavior to enable parallel and crosswind configurations. If this is not desired, select the default runway file instead.

Installation and Setup

1. If you have an older version of this airport by Ray Smith, remove or overwrite the existing files to avoid conflicts.
2. Copy only one of the runway BGL files (either KFLL_ADE_RS.BGL or KFLL_ADE_CW_RS.BGL) and the KFLL_ADE_CVX.BGL into your “Addon Scenery/scenery” folder.
3. Place the KFLL_ADE_OBJ.BGL file into your “Scenery/Global/scenery” folder.
4. For visually extended jetways, you need two texture files (“jfk_jetway.dds” and “jfk_jetway_LM.dds”) inside your “Scenery/Global/Texture” folder. Locate these in the “FSX/Scenery/NAME/Texture” folder and copy them into “Scenery/Global/Texture.”

Maintaining a Single Airport File

It is crucial to keep only one KFLL runway operation file in the “Addon Scenery/scenery” directory. Multiple AFCAD files for the same airport typically lead to irregular behavior. Also, confirm that any AI traffic add-ons do not install an alternative AFCAD for KFLL.

Removal Procedure

1. To revert to the default airport, remove or delete the installed BGL files from your “Addon Scenery/scenery” and “Scenery/Global/scenery” folders. Microsoft Flight Simulator X will then display the stock layout.
