FSX RAF 6 Squadron Typhoon

RAF No. 6 Squadron Eurofighter Typhoon textures bring authentic service markings to the MAIW model in Microsoft Flight Simulator X, with paintwork converted for correct alignment and a refined canopy look. The package replaces textures only and requires the original Typhoon aircraft folder from the referenced MAIW release.

Textures that are designed so that they work correctly in FSX. Huge thanks to Martin Gossmann for the conversion of the original paints. The model is needed for this to work. Model by Nick Black and Rysiek Winawer. Repaint by Dale Ashcroft.

Used in an FSX environment, there is one shortcoming with this model: the cockpit glass is greyish opaque. Luckily this can be fixed by adding an alpha channel for the glass part. Many thanks to Gavin Cole for finding the canopy texture.

Thanks to Dale Ashcroft for allowing me to make the modified textures available.

This Zip contains only the replacement textures for the MAIW aircraft in the raf6typhoon.zip package. You need the original aircraft folder that comes with the respective package to make use of it.

  1. Make a backup of the original Typhoon aircraft folders.
  2. Extract the content of this zip file to a temporary location.
  3. Copy the extracted folder to the place where your MAIW aircrafts are stored and confirm to overwrite the existing files.
  4. You are done.

How to install this mod

FSX / P3D add-on

  1. Extract the downloaded archive

    Use 7-Zip (free) or WinRAR to extract the ZIP to a temporary folder. Don't install while still zipped — the simulator can't read inside ZIP files.

  2. Place files per the readme

    Most FSX add-ons go into one of: SimObjects\Airplanes\, Addon Scenery\, Effects\, or Gauges\.

  3. Always read the included readme

    Every mod ships with a readme.txt or README file. It tells you exactly where files go, what dependencies are needed, and any quirks specific to this add-on.
