FSX Boeing 737-800 Engine Smoke

Boeing 737-800 engine smoke effects bring a subtle, realistic exhaust haze to the default jet, adding atmosphere on takeoff and climb without overpowering the view. Designed for FSX, it updates the smoke system with tuned effect placement and supports quick in-flight toggling for a clean, believable trail.

Subtle engine smoke display for the default Boeing 737-800. Tested in FSX SP2 using Windows 7, 64 bit. I know, I don't see much smoke coming out of Easy Installation. By Tom Tiedman.

Installation:

  • Copy and paste the "fx_smoke_f6.fx" file into your FSX "Effects" folder... (it's probably there already, so look first.
  • Copy and paste all of the [SMOKESYSTEM] info. below into your default FSX Boeing 737-800 "aircraft.cfg" file. I pasted mine between the [LIGHTS] section and the [keyboard_response] section, which worked nicely.
  • Press the "I" key while flying your 737-800 and enjoy a nice mellow smoke!

How to install this mod

FSX / P3D aircraft
  1. Extract the downloaded archive

Use 7-Zip (free) or WinRAR to extract the ZIP to a temporary folder. Don't install while still zipped — the simulator can't read inside ZIP files.
  2. Copy aircraft files into SimObjects

Place the aircraft folder inside FSX\SimObjects\Airplanes\. The folder must contain an aircraft.cfg file. Effects go into FSX\Effects\; gauges go into FSX\Gauges\.
  3. Verify in FSX

Launch FSX, go to Free Flight → Select Aircraft and find your new aircraft under its manufacturer.
  4. Always read the included readme

Every mod ships with a readme.txt or README file. It tells you exactly where files go, what dependencies are needed, and any quirks specific to this add-on.
