EDDL/DUS, Dusseldorf Airport, Germany for use with German Airports commercial scenery. By Alex Probst.
I have used up to date tarmac maps in order to name all taxiways and gates according to the real world airport. The gate numbers how ever do not reflect the gate numbers you can see in the actual scenery, as they are outdated.
I also have used the new gate assignment feature of AFCAD2. I have assigned the gates according to own observations at DUS and with the help of photographs from various sources. In order to see planes actually following the gate assignments you need to add some extra information in the aircraft.cfg of your AI planes. AFCAD2 comes with a little tool that will help you do that. I suggest you download AFCAD2 and have a look at the readme file. If you do not intend to use gate/airline assignments you will see better results if you remove the assignments with AFCAD2
Installation:
Simply create a folder within your FS Addon Scenery folder (X:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Flight Simulator 9\Addon Scenery) named DUS_AFCAD (or whatever suits you) and create a folder called "scenery" inside that folder. Now simply copy the distributed *.bgl file into the scenery folder you just created. Now start FS and register the scenery under settings > addon scenery > add scenery. After you restart FS the AFCAD file is active and working.
De-installation:
Just delete the folder DUS_AFCAD (or whatever name you have chosen) and remove the scenery library entry under settings > addon scenery > remove scenery. The default DUS airport was not overwritten and is still present when you delete my file.
FAQ:
Q: Do I need AFCAD to install your file?
A: No, you don't need AFCAD anymore to install files. Simply do as described above.
Q: Will your file change the visual scenery/fix the issues of the scenery (as in the disappearing taxiways apron textures etc.)
A: No. AFCAD only modifies the stock airports that come with FS9. Addon scenery's will remain unchanged by AFCAD Files.
Q: Few planes seem to park at the actual terminals but on the tarmac parking spots. How come?
A. Because the gates have assignments to specific airlines. If your ai planes don't haven't been updated with the parking specific airline identifier they will prefer unassigned gates (e.g. some places on the apron). Two ways to resolve this: 1: Get AFCAD and remove the gate identifiers. 2: Add airline codes to your ai planes. Check out the readme of AFCAD2 for a manual.
Lee Swordy created an amazing tool absolutely for free. Keep up the freeware spirit!
German Airports is patched for FS9 and comes from Aerosoft, Germany.
Airport maps used to create this scenery are from eddl.de.
Pictures used to make the assignments came from eddl.de and airliners.
Thanks a thousand to all the above for making this possible!
