This comprehensive freeware package showcases a highly detailed Boeing 737-600, adorned with the WestJet livery, originally developed by TDS and subsequently upgraded by David Grindele. It features tested compatibility with FSX across multiple Windows operating systems, delivers an accurate flight model, and includes a meticulously crafted external appearance. Users can rely on a package that has been thoroughly scanned for vulnerabilities and presents no known issues upon release.

Development and Features

The original creators at TDS (Tenkuu Developers Studio) engineered the structural and aerodynamic characteristics, ensuring realistic handling for short- to medium-range operations. Meanwhile, David Grindele integrated refinements that enhance overall immersion and improve texture mapping. This ensemble delivers an authentic cockpit environment, balanced thrust management, and reliable spool-up behavior.

Within this software, the external fuselage incorporates high-resolution textures echoing WestJet’s distinctive paint scheme. The shorter fuselage of the 737-600, characteristic of Boeing’s Next Generation lineup, is captured authentically. You will also notice nuanced details, including correctly placed decals, smooth model geometry, and realistic surface reflections.

System Compatibility

Tests confirm that this free package operates seamlessly with FSX on Windows XP, Windows Vista, and Windows 7 (32-bit editions). There have been no conflict reports in general usage. Although this model has been deemed stable, it is always prudent to maintain backup copies of important simulator files in case of unforeseen system complications.

Usage Considerations

The FSLightman team disclaims liability for potential computer malfunctions. As with any community-provided content, you install and run this product at your own discretion. All files for this project underwent antivirus and malware checks prior to release, ensuring the package is safe to install on compatible systems.

Final Notes

Because third-party enhancements can sometimes modify core simulator files, it is advisable to maintain secure backups. Taking such precautions reduces the risk of data loss, should any errors or critical system failures occur. This package remains freeware and is made available for pilots who wish to experience WestJet’s Boeing 737-600 characteristics in FSX.

How to install this mod

FSX / P3D aircraft
  1. Extract the downloaded archive

Use 7-Zip (free) or WinRAR to extract the ZIP to a temporary folder. Don't install while still zipped — the simulator can't read inside ZIP files.

Place the aircraft folder inside FSX\SimObjects\Airplanes\. The folder must contain an aircraft.cfg file. Effects go into FSX\Effects\; gauges go into FSX\Gauges\.
  3. Verify in FSX

Launch FSX, go to Free Flight → Select Aircraft and find your new aircraft under its manufacturer.
  4. Always read the included readme

You haven't answered my questions on whether I am an active paying member of your site. Uninterested attitudes to a paying member! ( or so I think).
