FSX Percival Provost T1 Mega Pack

A freeware model of the Percival Provost by Keith Paine along with 14 different liveries for the aircraft and for flight simmers who wish to use it in FSX.

The original model is a port-over from FS2004 and all of the textures have been remastered to be made compatible with FSX.

About the Percival P.56 Provost

The Percival P.56 Provost, an esteemed British aircraft, first graced the skies in the early 1950s. Initially developed by the Percival Aircraft Company, it later became part of the British Aircraft Corporation (BAC). Known for its adaptability and reliability, the P.56 Provost served as a fundamental military trainer for the Royal Air Force (RAF) and several other air forces across the globe.

This piston-engined, propeller-driven machine featured a low-wing monoplane design, powered by a 550 hp Alvis Leonides 126 radial engine. Its robust construction and excellent handling capabilities made it an optimal platform for teaching a variety of flight maneuvers, including aerobatics, navigation, and instrument flying.

The P.56 Provost's design evolution eventually led to the development of the Jet Provost, a more advanced jet-powered trainer aircraft. Despite the Jet Provost's introduction, the P.56 continued to be a staple in the training environment until the 1960s, when it was gradually phased out in favor of newer models.

With its remarkable history and notable contributions to aviation training, the Percival P.56 Provost remains a cherished aircraft among flight simulation enthusiasts and aviation aficionados alike.

Cockpit Controls (VC)

These are the controls that animate and/or select commands.

The Oil Cooler Control lever only animates, it has no effect on oil temperature.

Control Lock: This closes the throttle & disables your Joystick. For some reason in the VC, the lever has a long delay before returning to the unlocked position, but the controls are enabled immediately. If it does not reselect your Joystick, select ‘Options’, ‘Commands’ then ‘Activate Joystick’ from the drop-down menu.

Wingfold: This removes the pilots from the cockpit in External views & places chocks in front of the tires.

Tailhook: This removes the Right-hand pilot from the VC & External views & the harness from the Left-hand seat in the VC, allowing solo flying.

Radio: The original ARI.5846 VHF radio fit of a 10-channel remote-controlled system is represented here & the frequency can be changed by clicking around the knob. There should be an onscreen readout of the frequency which is also displayed on the Frequency card.

Rudder Pedals: Can be adjusted by clicking a moving the mouse on the knobs on either side of the instrument panel.

Windscreen Wipers: Switch On in the VC with a Right-click & Off with a Left click. In the Centre console pop up a left click only is required.

Venturi changeover cock: In the real aircraft this allocates the Venturi to either the Left or Right instrument panel gauges, with the engine-driven pump supplying the other. In this sim, it changes the vacuum supply from normal to emergency & the suction gauge has a different value for each.

Engine Air Intake Control: In the real aircraft this has 3 positions; Filter, Ram, or Hot. In this sim, only 2 positions are available, Cold or Hot.

This pack contains the base aircraft along with the selection of repaints below.  All repaints have been aliased in the aircraft.cfg already so there is no need for any additional work.

1. c/n PAC/56/129, WV602 was delivered in March 1954 and used by No 22FTS at RAF Syerston. 
2. c/n PAC/56/406, 183 was a Provost T53 and was delivered in 1954. Preserved at the Irish Air Corps Museum at Baldonnel.
3. c/n PAC/56/121, ex-RAF WV575, was delivered to the Sudanese Air Force as 104 in September 1960.
4. c/n PAC/56/003 ex-WV420, G-AWPH is currently airworthy.
5. c/n PAC/56/155, WV628 was delivered in April 1954 and used by 2FTS at RAF Syerston. Sold back to Hunting's at Luton in August 1960.
6. c/n PAC/56/047, WV484 was used by No 6FTS at RAF Ternhill. Scrapped at Shawbury in March 1962.
7. c/n PAC/56/417, G-ASMC was ex-XF908 which was used by Alvis as an engine test bed. Sold privately in 1963 and based at Coventry. Preserved in RAF markings in Moenchengladbach.
8. c/n PAC/56/199, WV679 was used by 2FTS at RAF Syerston. Now preserved at Wellesbourne Mountford, Warwickshire.
9. c/n PAC/56/024, WV441 was delivered in July 1953 and used by 7FTS at RAF Ternhill. Scrapped at RAF Shawbury in October 1960.
10. c/n PAC/56/132, WV605 was used by No 3FTS at RAF Feltwell. Preserved at the Norfolk and Suffolk Aviation Museum, Flixton.
11. c/n PAC/56/276, XF545 was used by No 6FTS at RAF Ternhill. to 7957M and preserved at Bucklebury, Berkshire.
12. c/n PAC/56/192, WV675 was used by the RAF College at Cranwell before being sold back to Huntings at Luton.
13. c/n PAC/56/317, XF609 was one of four aircraft flown by the Central Flying School's aerobatic team 'The Sparrows' from RAF Little Rissington in 1957.
14. c/n PAC/56/186, WV669 was used by No 1FTS initially at RAF Syerston and then at RAF Linton-On-Ouse. Scrapped at Shawbury in 1961.

Installation

• Extract the archive and browse into the Provost T1 V2.0 folder. 
• Inside this folder, copy the contents of the Effects folder into your FSX Effects folder. 
• Then copy the entire Provost T1 V2.0 folder into your FSX SimObjects/Airplanes folder.
• Load the sim and find the aircraft (along with the repaints) in your aircraft selection list.
