Expert Overview

This updated KSAN San Diego International 1.51 scenery for X-Plane 11 creates a highly authentic airport environment, with accurately modeled terminals, hangars, and enhanced ground textures. As someone who has spent countless hours testing it in the simulator, I was impressed by the animated airport vehicles, HDR night lighting, and dynamic reflections on the buildings, all of which elevate the realism around the entire airfield.

Version 1.51 refines the orthoimagery, adds custom runway textures, and updates vehicle assets using the MisterX library to deliver a busier and more vibrant atmosphere. Small boats and cruise ships enhance the marina areas, while newly implemented static aircraft and crisp taxi lines ramp up immersion. This mod captures the unique feel of San Diego International and offers a smooth, visually rich experience that really stands out in the sim.

How to install this mod

X-Plane scenery

  1. Extract the downloaded archive

    Use 7-Zip (free) or WinRAR to extract the ZIP to a temporary folder. Don't install while still zipped — the simulator can't read inside ZIP files.

  2. Copy into Custom Scenery

    Place the scenery folder into X-Plane 12/Custom Scenery/.

  3. Set scenery load order

    X-Plane loads sceneries top-to-bottom from Custom Scenery/scenery_packs.ini. Custom airports should be ABOVE mesh and ortho-imagery.

  4. Restart X-Plane

    Close X-Plane completely and relaunch. The new content loads automatically.

  5. Always read the included readme

    Every mod ships with a readme.txt or README file. It tells you exactly where files go, what dependencies are needed, and any quirks specific to this add-on.
