North England Landmark Scenery Vol 1.a refreshes coastal and inland VFR navigation with custom models for Whitby, York Minster, Middlesbrough industry, the Angel of the North, Durham Cathedral, multiple lighthouses, transmitters, and Jodrell Bank. Built for Microsoft Flight Simulator X and adjusted for Horizon Generation X photo scenery, requires that scenery for best alignment.

To install
If you have already installed the previous version of these files then you should completely remove them before installing the new version.

To install- unzip the contents of the file and place the folder "North England landmarks Vol 1a" into your folder
"Microsoft Flight Simulator XAddon Scenery"

Then start the simulator and go to 'settings' - 'scenery library' - 'add area' then browse to the folder.

The scenery has been adjusted to more accurately fit the Horizon Generation X VFR photographic scenery . If you are using the old version of VFR photographic scenery then do not install these files- stick with the original versions

Contains Landmark scenery for the following:

  1. Whitby - Pier, Abbey and St Marys church, Boulby Mine.
  2. York - York Minster
  3. Middlesbrough - Transporter Bridge, Riverside Stadium, ICI, Power station and various industrial buildings.
  4. Newcastle - Angel of the North and nearby buildings.Tyneside cranes.
  5. South Shields - Souter Lighthouse
  6. Whitley Bay - St Mary's Lighthouse
  7. Flamborough Head - Lighhouse and tower.
  8. Manchester - Jodrel Bank Radio Telescope.
  9. Huddersfield- Emley Moor transmitter
  10. North Yorkshire - Bilsdale Transmitter.
  11. Durham - Cathedral.


The models can be found by getting airborn at the following aiports-

Durham Tees Valley - for Teeside, transporter etc then head to coast and fly south approx 15 miles for Boulby Mine and Whitby then further on down to Flamborough.

Newcastle - South for Durham Cathedral - East for Tyneside Cranes then head to coast for Souter Lighthouse and St Mary's Isle lighthouse.

Rufforth York - for York Minster.

Manchester - Jodrel Bank Radio Telescope should be visable from the runway.

If you are still stuck I have included saved flights which you can place in your "My documentsFlight Simulatior X" folder.

How to install this mod

FSX / P3D scenery

  1. Extract the downloaded archive

    Use 7-Zip (free) or WinRAR to extract the ZIP to a temporary folder. Don't install while still zipped — the simulator can't read inside ZIP files.

  2. Place scenery in Addon Scenery

    Create a folder under FSX\Addon Scenery\ containing scenery and texture sub-folders.

  3. Activate in Scenery Library

    In FSX, go to Settings → Scenery Library → Add Area. Higher priority means it overrides lower entries for the same location.

  4. Always read the included readme

    Every mod ships with a readme.txt or README file. It tells you exactly where files go, what dependencies are needed, and any quirks specific to this add-on.
