This enhanced release offers a complete freeware package of the Boeing 787-9 in Air New Zealand’s livery, featuring a refined model and advanced ground operations. It introduces new animation capabilities along with user-friendly installation steps to ensure a smooth experience in FSX. Created and painted by Camil Valiquette of CamSim, it accurately represents the long-haul capabilities of this twin-engine wide-body aircraft.

Overview of the Package

The version 2 build delivers an improved fuselage design and incorporates Animated Ground Servicing, often referred to as AGS. This system offers ground vehicles and boarding elements when parked, which helps simulate real-world airport procedures. The add-on’s design showcases Air New Zealand’s distinctive branding on the Boeing 787-9 platform. The 787-9 variant itself is known for its optimized aerodynamic profile and composite airframe, which provide excellent range and fuel efficiency. All visual details are meticulously executed by Camil Valiquette, who ensures each livery element displays precisely in FSX.

Installation Details

  • Extract all contents from the compressed file to your main FSX “Airplane” folder.
  • If you have not installed any previous AGS aircraft by this author, open the “Effects.zip” file and copy its contents into the FSX “Effects” folder. This step ensures correct night lighting.

Ground Service Animations

This aircraft model utilizes AGS. To engage the relevant animations, set up or confirm the following key assignments under the simulator’s controller settings:

  • Shift + E opens or closes the main passenger doors.
  • Shift + D toggles the cargo doors.
  • Shift + C initiates or ends additional ground service animations.

These key combinations allow access to realistic simulations of boarding steps as well as cargo loading operations, thereby enriching the overall airport ramp atmosphere.

Requires dependencies

This add-on may require the following files to function properly. If this is a repaint, the dependency below is likely the base aircraft package.

How to install this mod

FSX / P3D aircraft
  1. Extract the downloaded archive

Use 7-Zip (free) or WinRAR to extract the ZIP to a temporary folder. Don't install while still zipped — the simulator can't read inside ZIP files.
  2. Copy aircraft files into SimObjects

Place the aircraft folder inside FSX\SimObjects\Airplanes\. The folder must contain an aircraft.cfg file. Effects go into FSX\Effects\; gauges go into FSX\Gauges\.
  3. Verify in FSX

Launch FSX, go to Free Flight → Select Aircraft and find your new aircraft under its manufacturer.
  4. Always read the included readme

Every mod ships with a readme.txt or README file. It tells you exactly where files go, what dependencies are needed, and any quirks specific to this add-on.
