Flight Simulator X Prepar3D

This specialized package features Japan Airlines’ updated livery on a Boeing 787-8 platform, complete with enhanced exterior rendering and an integrated ground service animation system. The repaint draws attention to the airline’s emblem, often referred to as the “red-crown crane,” which made its return to Japan Airlines’ branding in recent years. Developed by Camil Valiquette, this freeware release ensures flight simulation enthusiasts can enjoy the aircraft’s refined aerodynamic design and convenient service animations without any additional purchases.

Overview of the Add-On

The Boeing 787-8 model included in this package takes advantage of CamSim’s version 2 framework, incorporating advanced Animated Ground Servicing (AGS). This functionality provides a dynamic experience on the ground, mimicking real-world turnaround activities. Captains will notice carefully modeled fuselage contours, characteristic of the lightweight composite airframe that sets the Dreamliner apart in modern aviation.

Installation Details

  1. Extract all items into the “Airplane” directory under the main FSX folder.
This process ensures the Boeing 787-8 files are correctly placed for immediate accessibility.
  2. If none of the AGS models by the same developer have been installed before, open “Effects.zip” and unpack its contents into the main FSX directory (this places the files inside the correct “Effects” folder).

Animation and Control Assignments

This aircraft configuration includes several animated elements, collectively known as AGS. In order to make use of these features, the following commands need to be mapped in FSX:

  • Wing fold/unfold assigned to Shift + C
  • Tail hook up/down assigned to Shift + D

During operation, some animations are triggered through global default commands:

  • Shift + E: Toggles passenger door
  • Shift + E + 2: Toggles aft cargo door (optimized for ground service actions)
  • Shift + D: Opens or closes cargo compartment doors
  • Shift + C: Activates or stops ground servicing procedures

Key Features

  • High-fidelity exterior modeling aligned with modern Dreamliner standards
  • Red-crown crane logo restored to the tail section, true to Japan Airlines’ real-world branding
  • Fully functioning ground service animations for enhanced ramp immersion
  • Night lighting effects for improved visibility and realism

Model design and repaint by Camil Valiquette ensure both attention to detail and flight simulation realism. This complete freeware package is ready for immediate use, simplifying the process of integrating an authentic Japan Airlines 787-8 into your FSX setup. Whether taxiing at a major international hub in Japan or cruising at high altitudes, this creation delivers a reliable and visually appealing experience.

Requires dependencies

This add-on may require the following files to function properly. If this is a repaint, the dependency below is likely the base aircraft package.

How to install this mod

FSX / P3D livery / repaint
  1. Extract the downloaded archive

Use 7-Zip (free) or WinRAR to extract the ZIP to a temporary folder. Don't install while still zipped — the simulator can't read inside ZIP files.
  2. Add livery to base aircraft folder

Place the texture folder (typically texture.{airline}) inside FSX\SimObjects\Airplanes\{base-aircraft}\.
  3. Update aircraft.cfg

Open the base aircraft.cfg in Notepad. Add a new [fltsim.X] section per the readme.
  4. Always read the included readme

Every mod ships with a readme.txt or README file. It tells you exactly where files go, what dependencies are needed, and any quirks specific to this add-on.
