Against the backdrop of a real winter with a lot of snow and low temperatures in the northern parts of Germany, VATSIM Germany decided to celebrate by taking on a custom with a long tradition in the Alps. They invited flying enthusiasts to the Apres-Ski-Triangle, and this event was held on Saturday, January 30, 2010.
VATSIM Germany announced that the EDDW, the Bremen airport in northern Germany was going to be fully staffed for this event. VATSIM also announced that staff from VACC Austria and VACC Switzerland who are highly experienced with the tradition were going to open and run the airports at LOWI - Innsbruck and LSGG – Geneva.
With a lot of snow in these three locations, there were many options for outdoor activities for attendees. VATSIM Germany, VACC Switzerland and VACC Austria did all the necessary planning to ensure that the event to make the new year was a success.
The promotional video which VATSIM put out in the months leading up to the Apres Ski Triangle event was well-received. It was exceptionally high quality and many skiing enthusiasts liked it.
