Add MSFS 2024 scenery to Little Navmap correctly: locate the active Community folder, rescan the right database and fix missing add-on airports.
Install the scenery in Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024’s active Community folder, close the simulator, then open Little Navmap’s scenery-library loader. Select the Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 database, confirm the detected package and Community paths, and run a full reload. Little Navmap will index supported local airport and scenery data.
How do I load MSFS 2024 scenery into Little Navmap?
Little Navmap does not normally add Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 packages one at a time; it rebuilds its scenery database from the simulator’s active package locations.
- Check Little Navmap supports MSFS 2024. If Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 is absent from the simulator list, install a Little Navmap release that explicitly supports it before proceeding.
- Install and activate the scenery. A normal freeware package belongs in the active
Communityfolder. Its package root should contain files such asmanifest.jsonandlayout.json, rather than another identically named folder. Our guide to placing MSFS 2024 scenery in the correct Community folder covers the installation side. - Exit Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024. Closing the simulator prevents package files or configuration data from changing while Little Navmap reads them.
- Open the scenery loader. In Little Navmap, open the Scenery Library menu and choose Load Scenery Library.
- Select Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024. Do not scan the Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 database by mistake; Little Navmap keeps simulator databases separate.
- Verify the detected locations. The package location must lead to the active MSFS 2024 installation and its Community folder. If you have moved the packages or retained several installations, automatic detection can select the wrong one. The simulator’s configured package location is authoritative; our explanation of MSFS package locations and scenery-library management helps identify the active folder.
- Run the full load. Start the scan and allow it to finish without closing Little Navmap. Confirm that the active database is MSFS 2024, then search for the airport by ICAO code or name. If Little Navmap remains on another simulator database, follow our Little Navmap database-selection and map setup guidance.
Why doesn’t my add-on airport appear?
A missing airport usually means Little Navmap scanned the wrong package tree, the package is nested incorrectly, or its airport data cannot be read.
| Symptom | Likely cause | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| MSFS displays the add-on, but Little Navmap does not | The scenery database is stale or points to another Community folder | Verify the active package path and run a complete scenery-library load, not merely a map refresh |
| Neither program detects the package | The extracted package has an extra wrapper folder or is inactive | Place the folder containing manifest.json and layout.json directly inside Community, then start MSFS once to confirm it loads |
| Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 is not listed | The installed Little Navmap build predates MSFS 2024 support | Update Little Navmap, reopen it and check the simulator selector again |
| The airport still shows stock runways or parking | The package is streamed, protected or does not expose readable airport records | Confirm the package is stored locally and rescan; protected data may remain unavailable to Little Navmap |
| No separate add-on airport appears | The scenery replaces an existing ICAO rather than creating another airport | Inspect the existing airport entry for changed runways, stands or other facilities |
A mistake we see constantly is pressing a general map reload and expecting it to rebuild the scenery library. Only the scenery-library loading process rescans package files.
What does Little Navmap import from scenery?
Little Navmap imports readable airport-related records, not the add-on’s visual models or textures. Depending on the package, that can include the airport position, runways, taxiways, parking stands, helipads and communication data.
Photogrammetry, mesh, landmarks, vegetation and texture-only scenery may produce no new searchable entry because there is no airport record to catalogue. Likewise, a scenery scan does not update the AIRAC cycle: procedures, airways and navigation data come from the navigation database selected in Little Navmap.
When should I rescan the scenery library?
Run another full scan after installing, removing or updating an airport package, changing the Community folder, or enabling previously inactive content. You do not need to rescan after every simulator launch, and purely visual scenery does not require another load unless it also changes airport data.
Can Little Navmap scan Xbox or PlayStation scenery?
No. Little Navmap needs direct access to package files, so its scenery loader can scan a PC installation only. Scenery installed in Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 on Xbox Series X|S, PS5 or PS5 Pro cannot be imported from the console into a desktop Little Navmap scenery database.
