Fenix liveries not showing in MSFS 2024: how to fix?

Adam McEnroe
In short

Fix Fenix liveries not showing in MSFS 2024 by checking the simulator target, active Community folder, package structure and aircraft variant.

Fenix liveries usually fail to appear in Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 because they were installed to the MSFS 2020 Community folder, left inside an archive, nested one folder too deep, or built for a different Fenix airframe or engine variant. Reinstall them to the active 2024 Community folder, then restart the simulator.

How do I make Fenix liveries appear in MSFS 2024?

  1. Close MSFS 2024 completely. The simulator scans add-on packages during startup, so changing a livery while it is running may not update the aircraft selector.
  2. Confirm that the Fenix aircraft itself loads. Select the unpainted or supplied Fenix aircraft and start a flight. If the base aircraft is missing or broken, follow our Fenix aircraft troubleshooting checks before working on its liveries.
  3. Select MSFS 2024 in the Fenix software. If both simulators are installed, the Fenix Livery Manager can target MSFS 2020 instead. Remove the misplaced copy and reinstall it for MSFS 2024. Our Fenix livery installation guide covers both the manager and manual methods.
  4. Extract manually installed liveries. Do not copy a ZIP, RAR or 7z archive into Community. The finished package should have files such as manifest.json and layout.json directly inside its package folder, for example Community\my-fenix-livery\manifest.json.
  5. Use the active MSFS 2024 Community folder. MSFS 2020 and MSFS 2024 have separate package locations, and a custom installation may place them on another drive. Do not rely on a path remembered from MSFS 2020; our MSFS livery folder and package-structure instructions explain how to identify the active location.
  6. Select the matching Fenix variant. A livery assigned to the A320 CFM will not necessarily appear under the A320 IAE, A319, A321 or a default Microsoft/iniBuilds Airbus. Open the Fenix aircraft first, then inspect its livery or appearance choices.
  7. Remove duplicates and restart. Move older copies of the same livery out of Community, particularly packages carried over from MSFS 2020. Start MSFS 2024 normally rather than in Safe Mode, which intentionally disables Community content.

Which Fenix aircraft must the livery match?

The livery package must reference the exact Fenix aircraft variation for which it was produced. Similar Airbus models displayed in the aircraft selector are not interchangeable.

Livery packageWhere to look for it
Fenix A320 CFMFenix A320 with CFM engines
Fenix A320 IAEFenix A320 with IAE engines
Fenix A319 or A321The corresponding Fenix expansion aircraft and engine option
Default or another developer’s A320 liveryIt will not appear under the Fenix aircraft

MSFS may present a paint scheme as a variation of the selected aircraft rather than as a separate aircraft thumbnail. Clear aircraft-selector filters and check the livery control after choosing the correct Fenix model.

Why does the livery work in MSFS 2020 but not MSFS 2024?

The two simulators use separate Community folders and can require different package metadata or model references. Copying a working 2020 livery into the 2024 folder is not a guarantee that it will load.

Use an MSFS 2024-compatible release where one is supplied. If an older package remains invisible despite having the correct folder structure and aircraft variant, replace it rather than editing its manifest or aircraft configuration blindly.

What if the livery is installed correctly but remains missing?

The remaining causes are usually a disabled package, a conflicting duplicate or an outdated livery rather than the texture files themselves.

  • Make sure MSFS did not start in Safe Mode after a crash.
  • Check that third-party content has not been disabled in the simulator’s content library.
  • Temporarily move other versions of that same livery out of Community.
  • Remove the suspect package, download a clean copy and reinstall it once.
  • Test with a supplied Fenix livery to separate an aircraft installation fault from a single bad repaint.

If liveries from several aircraft developers are missing, use our broader MSFS missing-livery checklist; that points to a Community-folder or simulator-wide content problem rather than Fenix alone.

Can Fenix liveries be installed on Xbox or PS5?

No. The Fenix aircraft is a PC add-on, and manually downloaded Community-folder liveries cannot be installed on Xbox Series X|S or PlayStation 5. These fixes apply to the PC edition of Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024.
