Complete MSFS 2024 World Update list through Update 22, with carried-over regions, installation advice and fixes for missing content.
Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 uses the continuing World Update series, not a separate numbering reset. The catalogue runs from World Update I: Japan through World Update XXII. Updates I–XVIII originated with MSFS 2020; XIX–XXII arrived after MSFS 2024’s release, while the earlier regional upgrades remain relevant in the newer simulator.

The numbering is chronological, so repeated regions are newer passes rather than duplicate entries. For example, the United States, Nordics, United Kingdom and central European countries have each received more than one update.
| World Update | Regional focus |
|---|---|
| I (1) | Japan |
| II (2) | United States |
| III (3) | United Kingdom and Ireland |
| IV (4) | France and Benelux |
| V (5) | Nordics |
| VI (6) | Germany, Austria and Switzerland |
| VII (7) | Australia |
| VIII (8) | Iberia |
| IX (9) | Italy and Malta |
| X (10) | United States, second update |
| XI (11) | Canada |
| XII (12) | New Zealand |
| XIII (13) | Oceania and Antarctica |
| XIV (14) | Central Eastern Europe |
| XV (15) | Nordics and Greenland |
| XVI (16) | Caribbean |
| XVII (17) | United Kingdom and Ireland, second update |
| XVIII (18) | Germany, Austria and Switzerland, second update |
| XIX (19) | Brazil, Guyana, Suriname and French Guiana |
| XX (20) | Post-launch regional release; our World Update 20 content and installation breakdown covers its individual packages. |
| XXI (21) | Post-launch regional release; see the airports, landmarks and activities included with World Update 21. |
| XXII (22) | Post-launch regional release; our World Update 22 package guide explains its content and installation. |
Do older MSFS 2020 World Updates count in MSFS 2024?
Yes, but they should not be mistaken for 18 separate new MSFS 2024 releases. Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 carries forward the relevant world, airport and point-of-interest content from the earlier simulator while using a much more streaming-dependent content system.
This is why the in-simulator library may not present every older update as one large downloadable package. Some components are integrated or streamed, while optional handcrafted airports, landmarks and activities may appear as separate library items.
Do I need to install every World Update?
No. Install or enable the regional packages for places where you intend to fly; collecting every optional package consumes storage without improving unrelated regions.
A World Update normally combines refreshed aerial data or elevation work with optional local assets such as airports, photogrammetry cities, landmarks and activities. The streamed world and locally installed package are not the same thing. Our MSFS 2024 World Update installation instructions explain how to claim and manage those components.
Why is a World Update missing or not showing?
A missing update is usually a library, account or package-state problem rather than the update having been removed. Check these points before reinstalling the whole simulator:
- Update the core simulator first. An older build may not display packages released for a later build.
- Check library filters. Owned, available, installed and update-available views can show different results.
- Use the correct signed-in account. A free Marketplace package still has to be associated with the account used to claim it.
- Confirm both ownership and installation. Adding a World Update to the library does not always install every optional component.
- Keep online world data enabled. Installing landmarks cannot replace streamed aerial imagery and terrain data.
- Restart after package changes. Airport and landmark indexes may not refresh correctly during the same simulator session.
A mistake we see constantly is treating a World Update like a Sim Update. A World Update improves a geographic region; a Sim Update changes the core simulator, aircraft systems, stability and platform features. The core update may be mandatory even when the regional package remains optional.
