Learn how to view a passenger cabin in MSFS, FSX, Prepar3D and X-Plane, fix empty interiors, and save a passenger-seat camera view.
You can view a passenger cabin only when the aircraft includes a modelled interior. Start in the virtual cockpit, use the camera’s translation controls to move aft, or select a supplied cabin preset. If you meet an invisible wall or see an empty shell, the aircraft probably has no usable cabin model.
How do I move the camera into the passenger cabin?
Use the virtual-cockpit or 3-D cockpit camera and move its viewpoint backwards; do not move the aircraft itself. Across Microsoft Flight Simulator (MSFS), FSX, Prepar3D and X-Plane, the exact command names differ, but the basic procedure is the same.
- Confirm that a cabin exists. Check the aircraft description, screenshots and camera menu for terms such as passenger cabin, interior, cabin view or passenger-seat view.
- Select an interior view. Begin in the virtual cockpit or 3-D cockpit rather than an external spot view. Interior and exterior cameras can load different parts of the aircraft model.
- Find the translation controls. In the control assignments, search for camera movement, translate, eyepoint, move forward/back, move left/right and move up/down. A look or freelook command only rotates your head; it does not relocate the viewpoint.
- Move aft gradually. Translate backwards through the cockpit doorway, then adjust height and lateral position to place the camera over a passenger seat. If camera collision is available, it may need adjusting to pass through a closed cockpit door.
- Save the position. Store it in a custom-camera or quick-look slot where the simulator supports one.
A mistake we see constantly is using aircraft slew instead of camera translation. Slew moves the whole aeroplane and can ruin the flight; it is not a cabin-walking control. Which camera method should I use?
Choose an interior camera whenever possible, because it is the method most likely to display the virtual cockpit and cabin geometry correctly.

On a console, use the simulator’s assignable camera controls and presets. Configuration-file camera definitions are primarily a PC option, and editing them still cannot reveal geometry that the aircraft developer never included.
Why can I see the fuselage but not the cabin?
An empty, black or transparent interior usually means the aircraft has an exterior shell but no passenger cabin model.
- The camera stops at the cockpit: a movement boundary or collision box is blocking it. Try an included cabin preset, but accept that some restrictions are built into the aircraft.
- The interior disappears: the external or drone camera is loading the exterior model rather than the virtual-cockpit interior. Return to an interior camera and translate from there.
- Walls and seats vanish at close range: the viewpoint is clipping through geometry. Move slightly towards the centre of the aisle or away from the surface.
- The cabin looks crude or blurry: it may be low-detail geometry intended only as background. Higher graphics settings cannot add missing seats, panels or textures.

How can I tell whether an aircraft has a modelled cabin?
The reliable signs are interior screenshots, dedicated cabin camera entries and documentation that explicitly mentions a modelled passenger compartment. Do not assume that transparent-looking windows or an airliner-sized fuselage mean there is a usable interior behind the cockpit.
We recommend checking the aircraft package before changing controls or configuration files. Can I save a passenger-seat camera view?
Yes—save the viewpoint as a custom camera, quick look or aircraft-specific camera definition after positioning it over the desired seat.
MSFS and X-Plane provide user camera slots through their respective control systems. FSX and Prepar3D commonly rely on supplied camera entries or manually configured aircraft views; back up any configuration file before editing it because an aircraft reinstall can overwrite the change.
