Uneven approach coverage across six runways

Logan’s instrument provision is concentrated on seven of its twelve runway ends, with several receiving both ILS and RNAV coverage while five have no published approach. Nine ILS procedures, including two with CAT II/III minima, provide substantial precision coverage; localiser procedures add further options. The runway lengths vary sharply: 15L/33R is roughly one quarter the length of the two longest runways, so the six strips are not interchangeable in practical planning.

Regional chart context

None of the nearby fields approaches Logan’s overall chart breadth. Hanscom has the broadest nearby set, closely followed by Beverly and Lawrence, while Marshfield’s coverage is markedly thinner. The New York Sectional supplies wider-area VFR context, the Boston Terminal Area Chart adds terminal detail, and the Boston Helicopter Route Chart depicts the dedicated helicopter route structure.
