Go PROBoston sits near the centre of a sheet extending from southern New Hampshire across eastern Massachusetts, Rhode Island and eastern Connecticut, then well offshore beyond Cape Cod. It includes Massachusetts Bay, Long Island Sound, the waters south of Rhode Island, and the islands off the Massachusetts coast.
The chart brings together a densely settled coastal corridor and a highly irregular shoreline with quieter inland country. Routes can pass quickly from the Boston metropolitan area to wooded New England hills, or cross long stretches of open water around Cape Cod and the offshore islands. The New York Terminal Area Chart adjoins to the west, continuing coverage towards the southern New England and New York region.
An FAA Helicopter Route Chart also covers this area, serving the more specialised needs of helicopter operations. The Terminal Area Chart remains the broader sheet for viewing Boston and its surrounding coastal and inland setting as one connected operating area.
