Procedure and runway pattern

Buchanan Field combines four runways in two left/right parallel pairs, but published instrument arrival coverage reaches only one runway end. The RNAV (GPS) and VOR procedures provide different forms of guidance without extending coverage elsewhere. The airport diagram helps distinguish the paired designations. The longer runways provide 5,001 and 4,602 ft, while both companion parallels are under 2,800 ft; available runway length therefore changes sharply within each alignment.

Surrounding chart coverage

KOAK has by far the broadest chart set among the nearby fields, with KAPC and KSUU also carrying substantially more coverage than Buchanan Field. KHWD is closely comparable, while O88 has a markedly thinner set. The San Francisco Sectional supplies wider regional VFR context, and the San Francisco Terminal Area Chart adds a more detailed terminal-area view beyond the airport-specific procedures.

Common questions about KCCR

What charts are available for KCCR?

10 current FAA charts for Buchanan Fld, including 3 instrument approachs, 1 departure procedure, 2 arrival procedures, 1 airport diagram. All are free to download as PDFs from this page, from the 6 August 2026 cycle.

What are the radio frequencies for KCCR?

Tower 123.9; Ground 121.9; ATIS 124.7; CTAF 119.7; UNICOM 122.95; Clearance delivery 118.025. Full civil VHF list, with sector notes, is in the frequencies table on this page — from the FAA NASR subscription.

How long is the runway at KCCR?

Buchanan Fld has 4 runways. The longest is 01L/19R at 5,001 ft by 150 ft, asphalt over concrete. Full runway dimensions, lighting and approach aids are listed on this page.

Does KCCR have an ILS approach?

No ILS is published. In total KCCR has 3 published instrument approaches, of which 1 are RNAV (GPS).

Where can I download the KCCR airport diagram?

The official FAA airport diagram for Buchanan Fld is free to download at the top of this page. It shows runways, taxiways, ramp layout and hold-short positions, and is reissued every 28 days.

Which runway do instrument approaches serve at KCCR?

Every published approach serves one runway end. There is no instrument procedure to the reciprocal direction, so an arrival in instrument conditions commits to that single approach direction regardless of the wind.

Is KCCR a towered airport?

Yes. Buchanan Fld has an operating control tower, within Oakland Center's airspace. Tower, ground and clearance frequencies are listed on this page.

How many runways does KCCR have?

4, which is why the chart set is as large as it is — each runway end that supports an instrument approach needs its own plates. The runway diagram on this page shows the layout to scale.

Are these KCCR charts current?

They are from the FAA cycle effective 6 August 2026, which is superseded on 3 September 2026. We publish each new cycle on its effective date. They are for flight simulation and reference only — not for real-world navigation.
