Approach and runway coverage

Woodward Field’s three approaches serve two runway ends, so instrument coverage is not confined to a single arrival direction. Two RNAV (GPS) procedures are complemented by one VOR procedure. The 5,000 ft runway 06/24 provides considerably more usable length than the 2,998 ft runway 14/32; aircraft needing more than 2,998 ft are therefore limited to the longer alignment.

Regional chart context

Shaw AFB has the broadest nearby procedure set, while Mc Entire JNGB also has more published coverage than Woodward Field. Sumter matches Woodward Field’s chart count, and Hartsville Regional and Fairfield County have slightly thinner sets. The Charlotte Sectional adds the wider visual and airspace context not conveyed by the airport’s instrument procedures.
