Go PROMountain ridges, Carolina Piedmont and a long reach of Atlantic coastline all fall within the Charlotte sheet. Its western side meets the southern Appalachians and Blue Ridge, while the central portion crosses the rolling interior of North and South Carolina. Farther east, the terrain flattens into the coastal plain before reaching the Outer Banks and open ocean. The southern coverage extends into coastal Georgia, and the northern edge reaches southern Virginia.
Routes continuing west pass onto the Atlanta sectional, with Cincinnati adjoining to the north-west. Washington takes over to the north-east, while Jacksonville continues coverage to the south-west. These joins matter particularly on longer inland journeys that cross the Appalachians or follow the Atlantic seaboard, where more than one neighbouring sheet may be needed.
FAA Terminal Area Chart coverage also overlaps part of this region. That product provides a larger-scale treatment of the concentrated terminal environment, while the Charlotte sectional retains the wider regional context across the mountains, Piedmont, coastal plain and offshore reaches.
