Instrument procedure shape

St Louis Downtown’s instrument coverage reaches only three of its six runway ends. The mix of ILS, localiser and RNAV (GPS) procedures provides both ground-based and satellite-based approaches, but not for every alignment. Seven departure charts against four approach charts also make the published set notably more departure-heavy than arrival-heavy.

Runways and surrounding coverage

The two parallel runways provide 5,301 ft and 7,002 ft, while the 2,799 ft 05/23 strip presents a much tighter length constraint. Nearby chart coverage varies sharply: St Louis Lambert International has by far the broadest set, Scott AFB/MidAmerica St Louis is also extensive, and Creve Coeur’s coverage is much thinner. St Louis Regional and Spirit of St Louis are closest to KCPS in overall chart volume. The sectionals add broad VFR context, while the St Louis Terminal Area Chart gives more detailed coverage around the terminal area.
