Procedure coverage

Craig’s two crossing runways are almost exactly the same length, yet published approaches serve only two of their four ends. The approach set combines ILS and localiser coverage with RNAV (GPS) and VOR procedures, providing several forms of instrument guidance while leaving the opposite ends without published approaches. At just over 4,000 ft apiece, changing runway alignment offers virtually no extra length; an aircraft requiring a longer strip gains nothing from the second runway.

Local chart context

Mayport NS and Jacksonville NAS have chart sets equal in size to Craig’s, while Jacksonville International’s coverage is substantially broader. Fernandina Beach has a smaller collection, and Herlong Recreational’s is markedly thinner. The Jacksonville sectional supplies wider VFR context absent from the instrument procedures. For surface planning, the airport diagram is supplemented by a separate hotspot chart.
