Runway and approach coverage

Kansas City International has approaches serving all six runway ends, rather than concentrating instrument access on a single alignment. The mix of ILS, RNAV (GPS) and localiser procedures provides several forms of guidance, while two ILS procedures include CAT II/III minima. Two parallel north–south runways and an east–west runway offer distinct alignments. As every runway is at least 9,500 ft long, the layout is not limited to aircraft with short runway-distance requirements.

Wider chart context

Kansas City Downtown/Wheeler Field has the broadest procedure coverage among the nearby airports, with Lee’s Summit Regional, Midwest National Air Center and Sherman AAF also carrying substantial sets. Excelsior Springs Memorial is much more thinly covered. The Kansas City Sectional supplies wider-area VFR context, while the Terminal Area Chart adds more focused coverage around Kansas City.
