Camp Pendleton’s five instrument approaches serve both ends of its single 03/21 runway, avoiding a one-sided arrival set. The procedures include RNAV (GPS), VOR and helicopter approaches, while four obstacle departure procedures give departure coverage nearly equal in depth to the arrival coverage. All fixed-wing procedures are necessarily concentrated on one 6,005 ft alignment.
Mc Clellan-Palomar has comparably broad chart coverage, while Bob Maxwell Memorial Airfield and Ramona have smaller sets; Fallbrook Community Airpark and French Valley are thinner still. The Los Angeles Sectional supplies wider regional VFR context, complemented by the more detailed terminal-area depiction on the San Diego Terminal Area Chart.
