At Grosse Ile Municipal, instrument arrivals serve only two of the four conventional runway ends. The three approaches comprise two RNAV (GPS) procedures and one VOR procedure, giving GPS-based coverage alongside a conventional option but leaving half the runway ends without a published approach. With four times as many departure procedures as approaches, the chart set is weighted strongly towards outbound routing.
The two conventional runways are similar in length: 04/22 provides only 422 ft more than 17/35, so changing alignment brings little gain in available distance. Nearby, Custer has almost identical chart coverage, while Willow Run and Coleman A Young Municipal have somewhat broader sets. Detroit Metro Wayne County is covered far more extensively, whereas Canton-Plymouth-Mettetal is much thinner. The Detroit sectional, terminal area and helicopter route charts add progressively more local VFR and helicopter-routing context beyond the instrument procedures.
