Concentrated instrument coverage

Quonset State’s five approaches serve only two of its four conventional runway ends, so instrument coverage is concentrated rather than balanced across both runway alignments. The combination of RNAV (GPS), VOR and localiser procedures provides both satellite-based and ground-based options. Runway 16/34 offers 3,000 ft more length than 05/23, making the available runway length notably less restrictive on that alignment; the two 45 ft helipads add dedicated helicopter positions.

Regional chart context

Among nearby fields, Rhode Island TF Green International has a distinctly broader procedure set, while New Bedford Regional is the closest match in overall chart coverage. Newport State, North Central State and Westerly State have thinner sets. The New York Sectional and Boston Terminal Area Chart complement the terminal procedures with VFR planning context at regional and terminal-area scales.
