Randolph AFB’s parallel runways are almost exactly the same length, at 8,351 and 8,352 ft, so moving between them brings no significant runway-length penalty. All four runway ends have published approach coverage. The 14 approach plates include ILS, localiser and RNAV (GPS) procedures, meaning instrument coverage is not confined to one runway or landing direction. Sixteen standard terminal arrival charts against five departure charts give the overall procedure set a marked arrival emphasis.
San Antonio International has a somewhat broader chart set with 43 charts, while Kelly Field and Stinson Municipal are comparable to Randolph with 34 and 32. New Braunfels National and Boerne Stage Airfield have thinner coverage at 25 and 21 charts. The San Antonio Sectional adds broader VFR context, while the US Gulf Coast Helicopter Route Chart supplies helicopter-route information absent from the instrument procedures.
