The tiny airfield of Oostwold is located in the province of Groningen in the northern part of The Netherlands. Even though the airfield is famous for its airshow (latest edition was on 1 June 2009), Microsoft managed it not to include the airfield in FSX.

The airshow is held every two years. Most participants are warbirds and other single engine props. Highlight of the latest edition were the beautiful Wingwalkers. Next to the smaller planes, this year's participants consisted a DC-2 'Uiver' and even some jets: a Fouga Magister and a L-39 Albatros.

The airfield of Oostwold has one grass runway and is mainly used by Vliegbedrijf Tom van der Meulen. Every now and then the rescue helicopter Lifeliner 4 (based at the Groningen hospital) visits the airfield for refueling.

Main Changes:

  • Added the runway, taxiway and apron.
  • Added the Tower frequency.
  • Added parking spots, including parking spots for the airshow.
  • Added some buildings and other scenery objects like a windsock and a fuel pump.

ADE9X (Airport Design Editor) by Jon Masterson is an invaluable freeware utility for developing Airports and the latest version - 1.46.02 - is designed for both FSX and FS9 use - and includes Jim Vile's graphical approach editor. My thanks to both Jim and Jon for all their help and support on this and all AIG projects.

Installation:

  1. Remove any existing EHOW AFD/Afcad file in your FSX installation.
  2. Place the two files AIG_EHOW_ADE_JDW_Default.BGL and AIG_EHOW_ADE_JDW_Default_CVX.BGL in your Addon Scenery/scenery folder and re-start FSX. AIG_EHOW_ADE_JDW_Default_CVX.BGL includes the landclass.

Uninstall:

  1. Remove or delete the two files AIG_EHOW_ADE_JDW_Default.BGL and AIG_EHOW_ADE_JDW_Default_CVX.BGL from your Addon Scenery/scenery folder and re-start FSX.
