Water, Water, Everywhere is a series of flights from inland lakes and reservoirs in different areas of the United Kingdom, using a floatplane/seaplane. The flights are intended to exploit the varied regions, enhanced by the addition of an appropriate Photographic Scenery package. Includes a suggested list of freeware add-ons to add even more interest to the flights, which use the default FSX Beaver on floats. There are no flight plans as such, only detailed briefings allowing the pilot to fly "for real", using maps, compass, and eyes, with the help of the instructions. By Gordon Wilkinson.

These flights involve flying from one inland lake or reservoir to another in different areas of the United Kingdom in a floatplane/seaplane. This is a nice experience, taking off and landing on a wet surface with no runways to worry about, no ATC to bother with, and no AI traffic to get in the way (turn all air traffic off).
Be sure you know how to use the water rudders.

The series of flights is planned to exploit the more dramatic areas of scenery in the UK, which are much enhanced by the addition of one or other of the appropriate Photographic Scenery packages now available. I would say that these addons are essential to a proper enjoyment of these flights. I would also suggest that you search for and install the following:

  • UK Fuel Storage Depots
  • UK Windfarms
  • UK Windfarms (Vol 2)
  • UK ANO FSX
  • UK Mills
  • UK Refineries

All of the above will add nice little touches as you fly around the UK.

None of the flights in each group is long, but some are very demanding in terms of finding your way. You must have a good large-scale map/road atlas, of about 3 miles to the inch or better, or be able to access Plan-G (a free download from tasoftware). The ideal set-up is to have two monitors, with Plan-G on the second. There are NO flightplans for any of the flights, which means finding your way by VFR, with the help of the briefings I have included. Sometimes I have suggested a suitable altitude, sometimes I've left it to you. Keep speed down at all times.
