FSX / P3D scenery

FSX Alfs UK Airfields Volume 24 Scenery

Stapleford Airfield (EGSG) comes to life with a carefully placed layout, custom objects, and locally tuned landclass to blend into the default terrain around the Essex countryside. Built for Microsoft Flight Simulator X and created with SDK placement tools and Airport Design Editor, it also includes optional static aircraft packs for added apron atmosphere.

Stapleford, UK (EGSG). This was compiled using aerial views from Google Earth, Pooleys UK Flight Guide, and the FSX SDK Object Placement Tool and Airport Design Editor v1.50. Extra items were produced using Instant Object Maker v1.2 from FlightSimTools. This partly uses the standard FSX scenery objects and also dedicated objects made with Object Maker including landclass 'objects' using Google Earth. It was designed to use with FSX SP2 so there may be problems if SP1 and SP2 are not installed. NOTE: The scenery was made to fit into the FSX standard scenery, discrepancies may occur with photo-realistic scenery. By Alf Denham.

Stapleford was requested by David Northan of Perth, Western Australia. David also kindly acted as Beta tester, thanks David. If you have a local small airfield you'd like done and can provide photographs then feel free to contact me-though I make no promises! Rwy12 static aircraft by Seev Kahn also used (don't always work-see Known Problems).

Installing:

  • First unzip files into a temporary folder.
  • Place folder 'Stapleford_EGSG' into Addon Scenery and install as usual.

Extra static aircraft are supplied in three separate 'Stapleford_static' folders and should be added and installed in same way as main folder. Note: Only ONE of the three should be used. Initially add static aircraft with 'Stapleford_static' as intended.(see below).

Known Problems:

If three aircraft on eastern small apron refuse to paint texture then use 'Stapleford_static_3' to replace them with FSX generic. If ALL the aircraft won't paint then use 'Stapleford_static_2' to display FSX taildraggers. The Landclass Object for the apron/main buildings area flickers when viewed from above about 2,300 feet.

How to install this mod

FSX / P3D scenery

  1. Extract the downloaded archive

    Use 7-Zip (free) or WinRAR to extract the ZIP to a temporary folder. Don't install while still zipped — the simulator can't read inside ZIP files.

  2. Place scenery in Addon Scenery

    Create a folder under FSX\Addon Scenery\ containing scenery and texture sub-folders.

  3. Activate in Scenery Library

    In FSX, go to Settings → Scenery Library → Add Area. Higher priority means it overrides lower entries for the same location.

  4. Always read the included readme

    Every mod ships with a readme.txt or README file. It tells you exactly where files go, what dependencies are needed, and any quirks specific to this add-on.

    Very good work!! However, it is impossible to taxy from small ramp to a runway as your plane crashes into something invisible along the way. Please fix this in an update! :)
