FS2004 Short S.45 Solent 4

Short S.45 Solent 4 brings TEAL’s iconic postwar flying-boat airliner to life for FS2004, with authentic early and late TEAL liveries plus Aquila Airways. A detailed virtual cockpit relies largely on default gauges and DC-3 sounds, delivering classic propliner handling for scenic ocean and harbor routes.

The Solent 4 was a large and powerful flying boat airliner built for TEAL (Tasman Empire Airways Ltd) who used them from 1949 to 1960. One is preserved today in New Zealand. Textures for TEAL (early and late) and Aquila Airways included. By Jens B. Kristensen.

Installation:

Just unzip this archive to the Flight Simulator 9\aircraft folder. Remember to 'use folder names' when unzipping.

Sounds:

The stock FS2004 DC-3 sounds are used. Replace with more interesting propliner sounds if you wish.

The gauges are to a large extent default gauges of Flight Simulator 2004. The fuel gauges are by Jay Crawford 1999. Magneto switches, starter buttons, prop feathering buttons flap indicator and engine gauges are by Mike (MoparMike) Wagner. Please read his original readme files in the \panel folder.

The pilot figure is borrowed from the LA-7 sample project included with FSDS2.

This plane was made with FSDS 2.24, the textures with Paint Shop Pro and DxtBmp.

FS2004 add-on

  1. Extract the downloaded archive

    Use 7-Zip (free) or WinRAR to extract the ZIP to a temporary folder. Don't install while still zipped — the simulator can't read inside ZIP files.

  2. Place files per readme

    FS2004 add-ons go into FS9\Aircraft\, FS9\Addon Scenery\, FS9\Gauges\, or FS9\Effects\.

  3. Always read the included readme

    Every mod ships with a readme.txt or README file. It tells you exactly where files go, what dependencies are needed, and any quirks specific to this add-on.
