Editorial

Without a doubt, the 747-400 is one of my favorite aircraft in recent times. The fact it’s so easy to control and so effective in general for getting you from A to B comfortable and quickly means that I have plenty of time for trying out this mod. I was a huge fan of the aircraft the first time that I stepped foot inside one in real-life, and the minute I got to use the cockpit of this one in FSX I was massively impressed again. The whole thing feels great and manages to give you that real Boeing style – it feels nice and official, which is all that you can really ask for in a mod, right?

Well, this mod also does a great job of capturing that authenticity and reality a bit closer than others may have in the past. The original textures are being used for some parts, but others have been revamped and improved to ensure it captures the depth and detail of the real thing accordingly. The whole package works together in some kind of awesome tandem to ensure that the aircraft looks great and that it can all come together with genuine precision.

Basically, if you always wanted to fly a Boeing 747-400 but never have the chance to do so then this package offers the most likely chance you’ll ever have to do so. It’s easy to use, it’s fun to fly around in and it’s incredibly realistic to the real thing – what more could you really ask for from a mod? If realism is your thing then this more or less ticks every single box. It makes creating that decision and making the choice of what aircraft to use incredibly easy as it really does obtain every last detail here perfectly.

It comes with these awesome textures but that is not to say this is all style and no substance, not at all! The inside comes with a brilliant virtual cockpit that is complete with all the support and aids that you could need to navigate the flight and make it work out the way that you had wanted in the first place. In fact, with this set of aids such as PDF documents and AP files to use, you will find that getting to grips with this is just a matter of time and learning the ropes rather than anything else!

Indeed, the entire solution and program feels like fun to be involved with and the fact it has a hugely useful LandPanel added in just makes the whole thing start to tick boxes all across the board. As a fan of the aircraft I wanted this to be as close to the real thing as possible and I have to say that this has in no way shape or form let me down. It feels great, its scale is bang on and the performance matches the graphical detail and attention to realism – I really could not ask for any more from this mod.

Found a way to fix black wings. It needs a folder called "texture" in the same folder as the other textures. You can copy it from the default 747.

Is this 747-400 software package compatible with Microsoft FSX Steam Edition?
