MSFS Bicester Airfield (EGDD) Scenery

This freeware mod for Microsoft Flight Simulator (MSFS) 2020 release brings the historic Bicester Aerodrome, on the outskirts of Bicester, Oxfordshire, to life. With a rich history dating back to 1916, Bicester Aerodrome, formerly RAF Bicester, holds a notable place in aviation history.

Real-World Airport Backdrop

Originally established as a military airfield, Bicester Aerodrome was the site of the first flight of the Handley Page Halifax prototype in 1939. It was also the base for No. 71 Maintenance Unit, RAF, until 2004. The airfield now serves as a prime example of preserved RAF architecture and layout, making it a significant historical site.

Main Features

• Custom Hangars: This mod introduces meticulously modeled custom hangars, including a unique open hangar with an integrated parking ramp, enhancing the realism of the airport.
• Control Tower: A custom-designed control tower is added, offering an authentic feel and visual appeal to the airfield.
• Glider Boxes: Custom glider boxes are incorporated, emphasizing the airport’s current use for gliding and general aviation.
• Realistic Parking: New parking layouts reflect the airfield's current usage, ensuring a true-to-life experience.
• Runway Accuracy: Runways have been repositioned to their correct real-world locations, and the decommissioned runway 12/30 is accurately depicted as no longer in use.
• Tree Height Adjustments: Surrounding tree heights are modified to mirror their real-life counterparts, adding to the scenery's authenticity.
• Enhanced Textures: Improved "BC" text and signal square visuals enhance the overall graphical fidelity.

The add-on is easy to install – simply extract the archive and copy the airport-egdd-bicester folder into your MSFS "community" folder. Included are operational procedures for the aerodrome, offering a deeper understanding of the airfield's functionality.
