Robledillo de Mohernando Airfield (LERM)
A brand new package by developer Aval Design bringing the airport/airfield of…
Bicester Airfield (EGDD) scenery recreates the historic former RAF Bicester near Oxfordshire with custom hangars, a bespoke control tower, glider boxes, refined parking, and corrected runway placement that marks 12/30 as closed. Enhanced signal square textures and adjusted tree heights complete a faithful airfield atmosphere in Microsoft Flight Simulator.
This freeware mod brings the historic Bicester Aerodrome (EGDD) to life with meticulously detailed hangars, a custom-designed control tower, and authentic glider boxes that reflect the airport’s modern use for general aviation. Having worked in flight simulation for decades, I found the scenery’s finely tuned runway placements, heritage architecture, and subtle tree-height adjustments add a level of immersion that genuinely showcases the airfield’s storied past—most notably its role in the first flight of the Handley Page Halifax prototype.
From the decommissioned runway 12/30 to the enhanced “BC” text and signal square, every detail has been crafted to capture Bicester’s unique charm and historical significance. The addition of a licensed classic racing car model and a spacious open hangar underscores the mod’s dedication to authenticity and visual appeal, while the preserved RAF-era layout offers a fantastic glimpse into aviation history. After testing it myself, I can warmly recommend this scenery add-on to anyone seeking a realistic and inspiring flying environment in MSFS 2020.
This freeware mod for Microsoft Flight Simulator (MSFS) 2020 release brings the historic Bicester Aerodrome, on the outskirts of Bicester, Oxfordshire, to life. With a rich history dating back to 1916, Bicester Aerodrome, formerly RAF Bicester, holds a notable place in aviation history.
Originally established as a military airfield, Bicester Aerodrome was the site of the first flight of the Handley Page Halifax prototype in 1939. It was also the base for No. 71 Maintenance Unit, RAF, until 2004. The airfield now serves as a prime example of preserved RAF architecture and layout, making it a significant historical site.
The add-on is easy to install – simply extract the archive and copy the airport-egdd-bicester folder into your MSFS "community" folder. Included are operational procedures for the aerodrome, offering a deeper understanding of the airfield's functionality.
Special thanks to doublesix12 for providing crucial information and photographs, aiding in the creation of this realistic representation of Bicester Aerodrome.
Including a licensed "Classic racing car" model from Devekros under Creative Commons, this scenery mod not only adds historical depth but also a touch of unique charm to your virtual flying experience.
