FSX Bahamasair Boeing 737-800

Bahamasair’s Boeing 737-800 livery brings the carrier’s island-hopping identity to the default jet with crisp markings, accurate registration details, and a clean, authentic finish. Designed for Microsoft Flight Simulator X, the repaint requires the stock 737-800 base aircraft and drops straight into standard airline operations and short-haul routes.

This repaint offers an authentic depiction of Bahamasair’s Boeing 737-800 for Microsoft Flight Simulator X, meticulously crafted by Anthony Smith. Bahamasair is the national carrier of The Bahamas, operating primarily on short-haul routes between various islands and select international destinations. This texture pack brings the airline’s distinctive livery to the default 737-800 model. Although the repaint is freeware, the base aircraft is required and must be sourced separately, which can be found in the Fly Away Simulation library.

Essential Notes on the Default 737-800

The Boeing 737-800 (part of the Next Generation series) is a popular twin-engine jet renowned for its operational efficiency and reliability. In Microsoft Flight Simulator X, the default variant stands as a robust platform for add-on liveries. This repaint accurately captures the Bahamasair scheme, incorporating the airline’s branding details and registration marks.

Locating Your Microsoft Flight Simulator X Folder

Before installing, confirm where your simulator is located. Commonly, the path resides on your main hard drive within the “Program Files” directory. For example:

  • My Computer/C Drive/Program Files/Microsoft Games/Flight Simulator X/SimObjects/Airplanes

Within this folder, find the B737_800 directory. That location is critical for the texture installation.

Applying the Bahamasair Texture

  1. Open the B737_800 folder.
  2. Locate and open the aircraft.cfg file with a text editor (such as Notepad).
  3. Within that file, you will see various sections indicated by [fltsim.X] entries. Scroll until you reach the last existing number, for instance [fltsim.5].
  4. Below that final section (but above [General] if present), paste the following configuration block. Replace XX with the next sequential number. For example, if the highest number is 5, change [fltsim.XX] to [fltsim.6].
[fltsim.XX]

Finishing the Configuration

After adding the above lines:

  • Save the aircraft.cfg file.
  • Close your text editor.
  • Launch Microsoft Flight Simulator X and look for the Bahamasair 737-800 under Boeing listings.

If everything is correct, you should see the Bahamasair variation ready to fly.

Developer Credit and Base Model Requirements

This texture was created by Anthony Smith for the default Boeing 737-800. The underlying freeware model is not included, so ensure you have the necessary files installed. For those who have yet to download the base aircraft, visit the Fly Away Simulation library to locate the complete package. Once the original jet is in place, you can enjoy this detailed Bahamasair livery without any additional modifications.

How to install this mod

FSX / P3D aircraft
  1. Extract the downloaded archive

Use 7-Zip (free) or WinRAR to extract the ZIP to a temporary folder. Don't install while still zipped — the simulator can't read inside ZIP files.
  2. Copy aircraft files into SimObjects

Place the aircraft folder inside FSX\SimObjects\Airplanes\. The folder must contain an aircraft.cfg file. Effects go into FSX\Effects\; gauges go into FSX\Gauges\.
  3. Verify in FSX

Launch FSX, go to Free Flight → Select Aircraft and find your new aircraft under its manufacturer.
  4. Always read the included readme

Every mod ships with a readme.txt or README file. It tells you exactly where files go, what dependencies are needed, and any quirks specific to this add-on.
