Seamless Installation

  1. Download the freeware base package from the Fly Away Simulation library (the core C172 model must already be installed).
  2. Locate your active C172 aircraft folder inside the simulator’s installation directory.
  3. Drop the “texture.CAY” folder into that C172 folder.

description="A stable and trustworthy plane, most pilots have logged at least a few hours in a Cessna 172, since it's the most widely available aircraft in the rental fleet, and is used by most flight schools. Since the first prototype was completed in 1955, more than 35,000 C172s have been produced, making it the world's most popular single-engine plane. One of Cessna's first tricycle-gear airplanes, the 172 quickly became the favorite of a growing class of business pilots. Its reliability and easy handling (along with thoughtful engineering and structural updates) have ensured its continued popularity for decades."

Why This Repaint Stands Out

This texturing project by Guy Dutton offers a precise reflection of the FlyCay Flying Club’s dedication to a cohesive training experience. It enhances your virtual flying time by merging a community feel with a durable, proven airframe. Students gain a rewarding practice platform, and proficient aviators can further sharpen their skills with the clarity of .DDS textures.

All ownership of the base model remains with its respective creators; this livery requires the regular FSX default Cessna 172 set. Enjoy a flight that balances fidelity, comfort, and detailed graphics in one cohesive package, made possible by these complimentary textures.

How to install this mod

FSX / P3D aircraft
  1. Extract the downloaded archive

Use 7-Zip (free) or WinRAR to extract the ZIP to a temporary folder. Don't install while still zipped — the simulator can't read inside ZIP files.
  2. Copy aircraft files into SimObjects

Place the aircraft folder inside FSX\SimObjects\Airplanes\. The folder must contain an aircraft.cfg file. Effects go into FSX\Effects\; gauges go into FSX\Gauges\.
  3. Verify in FSX

Launch FSX, go to Free Flight → Select Aircraft and find your new aircraft under its manufacturer.
  4. Always read the included readme

Every mod ships with a readme.txt or README file. It tells you exactly where files go, what dependencies are needed, and any quirks specific to this add-on.
