FSX Harrisburg International Airport Scenery
Harrisburg International Airport KMDT gets a 2010-spec refresh in Microsoft Flight Simulator X, updating terminal gates and assignments, taxiway designations, runway markings and lighting, and approach data. The package also adds improved parking for cargo, general aviation, and military traffic, plus a new control tower view, beacon placement, vehicles, and apron spot lighting that requires included Jim Dhaenens light files.

Harrisburg International Airport - KMDT 2010 v1.
IMPORTANT: In order to see the Terminal and apron spot lighting you'll need to install the wonderful lights from Jim Dhaenens. I'm including his light files with this package.
To install Jim's lights, place the lightobj.bgl file in your:
...\Microsoft Flight Simulator X\Scenery\Global\scenery folder -
and almwht.dds and lights1.dds files in:
...\Microsoft Flight Simulator X\Scenery\Global\Texture folder -
KMDT represents a modification to the stock FSX airport. Airport specifications have been updated using information from Virtual Earth, Airnav and the official Web page. Enhancements include new and/or updated Terminal gates; Terminal gate assignments; approach information (transitions/missed); cargo, general aviation and military parking; airport facilities and vehicles; water tower; runway marking and lighting including new approach lights for Rwy 13; apron spot lighting; new Control Tower with Tower view; taxiway designation and pavement type; relocated airport green-white beacon; and additional vehicle paths and fuel trucks.
Installation: The preferred method is to create a folder called KMDT with a scenery subfolder. Place the three KMDT bgl files in the scenery subfolder. You will need to activate the KMDT folder once in FSX. I suggest placing it at or near the top of the scenery priority list - above ALL regional, state or national scenery including UTX USA.
CREDITS: KMDT was updated using the powerful airport design utility by Jon Masterson (ADE9X V1.47.7).
The approach code was updated using official approach plates and ADE9x V1.47.7. A special thanks to Jim Vile who is a member of the ADE team and is the author of the approach code module of ADE. The approach code updates would not have been possible without Jim's KIAD approach tutorial and help.
Lights by Jim Dhaenens provide an excellent set of apron lights. Special thanks to Jim for allowing the use of his lights in freeware packages.
*At KMDT commuter airline parking assignments can be complicated due to several small regional commuter carriers serving more than one major airline at the same airport. For example, MESA (ASH) serves both US Airways Express and United Express. If the ICAO code of ASH is used exclusively, it would be possible for USAX and UALX AI (operated by MESA) to park in the same spot/location.
To avoid this from happening, I suggest using the convention of an "X" following the ICAO of the major airline in the appropriate location of the aircraft.cfg file. For example, USAX = US Airways express. The MESA airline paint representing USAX would be coded (in the aircraft.cfg) for both USAX and ASH (atc_parking_codes=USAX,ASH). Most AI packages do this automatically but it's worth a check. In the KMDT airport scenery file I have not coded any duplicate regional carriers but rather I've used the convention when conflicts arise.
To the extent that there was a unique ICAO code for a particular regional commuter serving a single major airline I included its ICAO in the parking assignment along with the convention mentioned above. For example, PSA Airlines, JIA, provides exclusive service under the US Airways Express name at KMDT. Therefore, JIA is coded along with USAX.
Below are examples of regional carriers at KMDT and the parking codes used in this scenery. Where there is an "and" the "X" convention code must be present in the aircraft.cfg file to ensure that the AI will park at the appropriate gate.
Regional Commuter Airline Served Parking Code
PSA Airlines US Airways Express JIA or USAX
Mesa Airlines US Airways Express USAX and ASH
Piedmont Airlines US Airways Express PDT or USAX
GoJet Airlines United Express GJS or UALX
Mesa Airlines United Express UALX and ASH
Trans States Airlines United Express LOF or UALX
Atlantic Southeast Delta Connection ASQ or DALX
Freedom Airlines Delta Connection FRL or DALX
Pinnacle Airlines Delta Connection FLG or DALX
CommutAir Continental Connection UCA or COAX
American Eagle American Eagle EGF or AALX
Air Georgian Air Canada GGN or ACA
Wiggins Airways FedEx Feeder WIG or FDX
Other airlines serving KMDT include: AirTran Airways (TRS), US Airways (USA), United Airlines (UAL), Delta Airlines (DAL), FedEx Express (FDX), United Parcel Service (UPS), ABX Air (ABX) and the Pennsylvania Air National Guard.
In addition to the parking codes, it is important that each AI contain the correct FSX parking radius to help direct them to the correct/assigned parking ramps/gates.

How to install this mod
-
Extract the downloaded archive
Use 7-Zip (free) or WinRAR to extract the ZIP to a temporary folder. Don't install while still zipped — the simulator can't read inside ZIP files. -
Place scenery in Addon Scenery
Create a folder underFSX\Addon Scenery\containingsceneryandtexturesub-folders. -
Activate in Scenery Library
In FSX, go to Settings → Scenery Library → Add Area. Higher priority means it overrides lower entries for the same location. -
Always read the included readme
Every mod ships with areadme.txtorREADMEfile. It tells you exactly where files go, what dependencies are needed, and any quirks specific to this add-on.
